Overhead Hanger Type Shot Blasting Machine is used to clean, remove rust, scale, or paint from metal components by blasting steel shots at high speed. It is commonly used for castings, forgings, fabricated parts, automotive components, and structures.

Below is a simple step-by-step explanation of how it works.

1. Loading the Components

• Metal parts are hung on hooks or hangers attached to an overhead conveyor.

• The hanger carries the parts into the blasting chamber.

• This system is useful for heavy or irregular-shaped parts.

2. Entry Into the Blast Chamber

• The overhead conveyor moves the hanger into a sealed blasting chamber.

• Once inside, the door closes automatically to prevent shot leakage.

3. Shot Blasting Process

Inside the chamber:

• A blast wheel (turbine) rotates at high speed.

• It throws steel shots / steel grit at the metal surface.

• The shots hit the surface and remove rust, mill scale, welding scale, or old paint.

Typical speed of the wheel:

• 20003000 RPM

The hanger usually rotates slowly so that all sides of the part are cleaned evenly.

4. Shot Collection and Recycling

After hitting the part:

1. The used shots fall to the bottom hopper.

2. A screw conveyor moves them to a bucket elevator.

3. The elevator sends them to a shot separator.

4. The separator:

   • removes dust

   • removes broken shots

   • sends good shots back to the blast wheel.

This makes the system automatic and reusable.

5. Dust Removal

A dust collector system:

• pulls dust from the chamber

• filters it through cartridge or bag filters

• keeps the machine and environment clean.

6. Unloading the Parts

• After the preset blasting time (usually 210 minutes depending on part size), the hanger moves out.

• The cleaned parts are unloaded from the hook.

• Better surface for painting, coating, or welding
