Metal parts are hung on a hook or hanger.
The hanger is attached to a monorail trolley or rotating hook.
The parts are moved into the blast chamber.
The chamber door closes automatically.
The hanger starts rotating slowly (about 26 RPM) so all sides of the part are exposed.
Blast wheels (24 turbines) rotate at very high speed.
They throw steel shots / steel grit onto the metal surface.
Typical speed:
Blast wheel speed: 25003000 RPM
Shot velocity: about 6080 m/s
This process removes:
Rust
Mill scale
Sand from casting
Old paint
After hitting the part:
Steel shots fall into the hopper at the bottom.
A screw conveyor moves them to the bucket elevator.
The bucket elevator lifts shots to the separator.
The separator removes dust and broken particles.
Clean shots are reused again in blast wheels.
This makes the system continuous and economical.
Dust and fine particles go to the dust collector (bag filter or cartridge).
Clean air is released outside.
After 515 minutes blasting cycle, blast wheels stop.
The chamber door opens.
The hanger moves out and cleaned parts are removed.
