A Hook Type Shot Blasting Machine is used to clean, de-scale, remove rust, and prepare metal surfaces using high-speed steel shots. It is commonly used for castings, fabricated parts, forgings, and automotive components.

Below is a simple step-by-step working process.

1. Loading the Workpieces

• Metal parts are hung on hooks or hangers attached to an overhead conveyor.

• Each hook can carry 250 kg to 2000 kg depending on machine capacity.

• The hanger moves the parts into the blasting chamber.

2. Door Closing & Safety Lock

• Once the parts are inside the chamber, the door closes automatically.

• Safety interlocks ensure the machine cannot start if the door is open.

3. Rotation of Hook

• The hook rotates slowly (spinner action).

• Rotation allows all sides of the component to be exposed to blasting shots.

4. Shot Blasting Process

• Inside the chamber, high-speed turbines (blast wheels) throw steel shots.

• Shot velocity can reach 6080 m/s.

• Shots hit the surface and remove:

  • Rust

  • Scale

  • Sand

  • Old paint

  • Oxidation

Common blasting media:

• Steel shot

• Steel grit

5. Shot Collection & Recycling

After hitting the parts:

1. Shots fall to the hopper at the bottom.

2. A screw conveyor collects the shots.

3. The bucket elevator lifts them to a separator.

4. The separator removes:

   • Dust

   • Broken shots

5. Clean shots are reused again.

This makes the process continuous and economical.

6. Dust Removal

• A dust collector sucks dust from the blasting chamber.

• Filters capture fine particles to keep the working environment clean.

7. Unloading

• After the blasting cycle (usually 310 minutes):

  • Turbines stop

  • Door opens

  • Hook moves out

• Cleaned parts are removed from the hanger.
